ORDINANCE 26-158
ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING AND THE LANDUSE MAP FROM LIMITED INDUSTRIAL (I-1) TO SINGLE-FAMILY RESIDENCE (R-1) FOR PARCEL NUMBERS 34.059.0920, 34.059.0930, 34.059.0990, 34.059.0970, 34.059.0980, 34.059.0950, 34.059.0960, 34.059.0940, 34.059.0360, and 34.659.0050
THE CITY COUNCIL OF ALBERT LEA, MINNESOTA, ORDAINS:
On August 24, 2026 the Albert Lea City Council held a regular city council meeting and amended Zoning and The Land use Map from Limited Industrial (I-1) to Single-Family Residence (R-1) for parcel numbers 34.059.0920, 34.059.0930, 34.059.0990, 34.059.0970, 34.059.0980, 34.059.0950, 34.059.0960, 34.059.0940, 34.059.0360, and 34.659.0050.
The foregoing ordinance was adopted by the Albert Lea City Council on the 24th day of August, 2026.
WHEREAS, the City of Albert Lea initiated the process to rezone several parcels along Plainview Lane and Lincoln Avenue from Limited Industrial (I-1) to Single-Family Residence (R-1) to eliminate the legal non-conforming status; and
WHEREAS, notice of public hearing on the re-zoning described above was published in the Official City Newspaper as required by law; and
WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on August 4, 2026, and recommended approval of re-zoning the properties from Limited Industrial (I-1) to Single-Family Residence (R-1); and
WHEREAS, the Albert Lea City Council finds that the re-zoning is reasonable and compatible with the general zoning requirements of the Single-Family Residence District (R-1); and
WHEREAS, Albert Lea’s zoning map is to be amended by ordinance and approved by the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF ALBERT LEA, MINNESOTA:
Sec. 1. That the above-described properties be re-zoned from Limited Industrial (I-1) to Single-Family Residence (R-1).
